Seogwipo City is calling on its citizens to participate in the '2025 Hondi Moyeong Walking Challenge', a three-month initiative aimed at fostering a culture of healthy living and regular walking. The challenge, which runs from April to June, is open to groups of five or more residents, including friends, colleagues, students, and club members.
Participants will track their progress using the 'WalkOn' mobile app, which will record cumulative steps and verify group walking activities. Successful groups will be evaluated based on their total steps (aiming for 7,000 steps per day), the frequency of group walks, and overall participation.
Six outstanding groups will be awarded prizes and incentives in the form of Tamnaneunjeon (local currency). Applications are open from March 4th to 14th, and interested groups can apply at their local public health center.
"We hope this challenge encourages citizens to prioritize their health by walking with loved ones," said a Seogwipo City official. "It's a great opportunity to create lasting memories while staying active."
