[GLOBAL ECONOMIC TIMES] The ‘North Korean Dialect Singing Contest’, hosted every year by Shin Mi-nyeo, who leads the unification movement NGO ‘Saejowi’, starting with her relationship with writer Kim Jung-sik in 2010, marks its 7th anniversary this year.
This competition is held in a unique way by singing South Korean songs in a North Korean dialect, and expectations are growing as the number of participants increases and their skills improve every year.
This year in particular, fierce competition among talented participants is expected, and a tournament official said, “The participants’ passion will be even more intense as expectations for the prize money are high.”
The writer said, “I cannot participate in person due to my lack of singing skills, but I hope that many of my Facebook friends who have excellent singing skills will participate,” and added, “I plan to attend the finals in person on December 14th to cheer on the participants.”
Detailed information about the competition can be found on the Saejo Committee website, and those who wish to participate can contact the Saejo Committee directly.
