BA RIA-VUNG TAU, Vietnam – The Vietnamese Navy has dispatched Ship 09 of Naval Region 2’s Brigade 171 to participate in the fifth Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2025 (MNEK-25), taking place in Indonesia from February 16-22. The ship departed from Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province, as reported by the official military newspaper, Quân đội Nhân dân (People's Army).   

MNEK-25, a biennial exercise hosted by the Indonesian Navy since 2014, focuses on non-combat operations, emphasizing disaster management and humanitarian assistance. The exercise aims to foster stronger relationships, build trust, and improve coordination among participating navies.   

The seven-day event will feature a range of activities, including harbor and at-sea drills, marine environmental protection initiatives, an international fleet review, maritime security seminars, bilateral meetings, defense exhibitions, community medical outreach, and cultural exchange programs.   

This marks the fifth time the Vietnamese Navy has contributed a vessel to the multinational exercise. This year’s MNEK-25 boasts participation from 38 nations across the globe, including host Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, China, the United States, India, Japan, South Korea, France, and Australia, according to the organizing committee. The exercise underscores the international community’s commitment to collaborative efforts in maritime security and humanitarian aid.
