SHANGHAI – MG Motor has officially launched its newest electric SUV, the MG S5, marking a significant step forward in its electric vehicle (EV) lineup. The S5 is set to replace the MG ZS EV in key markets worldwide, including Europe, the company announced.
Priced competitively at 103,900 RMB (approximately $14,800 USD), the S5 aims to be a strong contender in the compact electric SUV segment with its advanced features and technology. A key highlight is the MG S5's ultra-thin battery pack, which MG claims is the world's thinnest.
The electric SUV comes equipped with a single rear-wheel drive (RWD) motor, generating 165 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This translates to a top speed of 170 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 8 seconds.
The MG S5 boasts a driving range of up to 525 km on a single charge, depending on the variant, making it an attractive option for customers seeking a practical and long-range electric SUV.
