Bucheon City, South Korea, is calling on community groups to participate in its 2025 Village Community Resident Proposal Project. The initiative aims to foster a more vibrant and sustainable community by supporting resident-led projects that encourage participation, communication, and sharing.

A Wide Range of Projects

The project is open to community groups of five or more people who reside or work in Bucheon. Participants can apply for funding for various activities, including:

Community activities: These could involve anything from organizing neighborhood events and workshops to providing social services or environmental initiatives.
Space creation: Grants are available for projects that improve public spaces, such as creating community gardens, renovating parks, or establishing neighborhood centers.

The city will provide financial support of up to 16 million won for eligible projects. Selected groups will have until November 30, 2025, to complete their initiatives.

New Initiative: Excellent Village Support Project

This year, Bucheon City has introduced a new program to encourage collaboration between local governments and community groups. The "Excellent Village Support Project" will support projects that address community needs, such as providing care for vulnerable residents or improving local infrastructure.

How to Apply

Community groups interested in participating can submit their applications from January 22nd to 24th. For more information and application guidelines, please visit the Bucheon City website or contact the Village Community Team of the Bucheon City Autonomy Division at 032-625-2336~2337.

Why This Matters

Bucheon City's Village Community Resident Proposal Project is a prime example of how local governments can empower residents to take ownership of their communities. By providing funding and support, the city is encouraging residents to work together to create more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable neighborhoods.
