Discussions on revitalizing memorial facilities and cooperation plans related to each organization's unique projects

The Independence Hall of Korea (Director Kim Hyung-seok) announced on the 18th that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Seodaemun-gu Urban Management Corporation (Seodaemun Prison History Hall) [Chairman Han Un-yeong] on the 17th to revitalize memorial facilities and mutually cooperate on projects unique to each organization.

This MOU was established to expand and develop the cooperation between the two institutions, which began with a joint special exhibition last year, into collaborative efforts related to the national memorial facilities network project and each organization's unique projects such as exhibitions, education, materials, and research this year. The signing ceremony was attended by Director Kim Hyung-seok, Administrative Director Min Byung-won, and Director Lee Myung-hwa of the Research Institute of Korean Independence Movement History from the Independence Hall, as well as Chairman Han Un-yeong and Head of Planning and Audit Division Noh Jin-gyu from the Seodaemun-gu Urban Management Corporation.

As the central institution for national memorial facilities nationwide, the Independence Hall operates a national memorial facilities network project to support the exhibition capabilities of these facilities and the academic expertise of their personnel. In particular, to promote visits to national memorial facilities in this 80th anniversary year of Liberation, it plans to implement a national memorial facilities stamp tour called ‘National Memorial Facilities Around Us.’

Under this agreement, the Independence Hall and the Seodaemun-gu Urban Management Corporation (Seodaemun Prison History Hall) will closely cooperate on matters such as operating educational programs linked to traveling exhibitions, pilot operation of newly developed traveling exhibition content for the Liberation Day this year and the March 1st Independence Movement Day next year, and joint promotion of the national memorial facilities visit stamp tour to revitalize these facilities.

An official from the Independence Hall stated that it is meaningful that the two institutions, which have been at the forefront of disseminating the spirit of independence, have signed this MOU in the 80th anniversary year of Liberation. They also expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation with national memorial facilities across the country, including the Seodaemun-gu Urban Management Corporation (Seodaemun Prison History Hall), to widely promote the values of the independence movement.
