The Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment announced that it received a 'Suitable' rating in the operation of the quality management system for testing and inspection agencies in the food and drug sector in 2025, conducted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).
This evaluation strictly assessed a total of 134 items related to the quality management standards for testing and inspection agencies based on the international standard (ISO 17025*), including the Institute's organization and personnel, facilities and equipment, testing and inspection operations, and quality assurance capabilities. *ISO 17025: International standard specification applied to testing and calibration laboratories established by the International Organization for Standardization.
As a result of this evaluation, the Institute has officially been recognized for its capabilities as a legally designated testing and inspection agency, and it will be able to further enhance the quality of its inspection services and the reliability of its results.
Shin Yong-hyun, Director of the Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment, stated, "We will continue to strengthen our expertise and improve our precision analysis capabilities to firmly establish ourselves as a trusted inspection agency for the citizens."
Meanwhile, in 2024, the Institute participated in the proficiency testing and interlaboratory comparison program for 11 items, including residual pesticides, across a total of four sectors: food, pharmaceuticals, hygiene products, and cosmetics, and received a 'Satisfactory' rating in all items.
