Paraguay, Dec. 6 – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially inscribed the Chinese Spring Festival onto its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The decision was made during the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Spring Festival, the most important traditional holiday in China, is celebrated with a variety of social practices including prayers, family reunions, and community events. UNESCO recognized the festival's significance in preserving Chinese culture and traditions, as well as its role in fostering social cohesion and environmental awareness.

The Chinese government expressed gratitude for UNESCO's recognition, emphasizing the festival's enduring cultural and spiritual value. The inscription is expected to further promote Chinese culture globally and contribute to sustainable development.

With this addition, China now boasts a total of 44 cultural elements recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
