Malaysia Recognizes Five Vietnamese Halal Certification Bodies, Boosting Access to Muslim Markets

Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) has officially recognized five Vietnamese organizations and companies to issue Halal certificates, strengthening Vietnam's standing in the global Halal supply chain.

According to Mr. Phung Van Thanh, Commercial Counsellor at the Vietnam Trade Office in Malaysia, these five entities are among 96 approved certification bodies across 49 countries worldwide. With this milestone, Vietnam now ranks third globally in the number of JAKIM-approved Halal certification organizations, trailing only Australia and Japan.

As of August 21, 2026, the five recognized Vietnamese bodies comprise:

-Halal Certification Agency of Vietnam (HCA)
-Halal Vietnam Co., Ltd. (HVN)
-Vietnam National Halal Co., Ltd. (VNH)
-Vietnam Halal Inspection and Certification Company (VINAHIC)
-Global Halal Certification Co., Ltd. (GHC)

These organizations are primarily headquartered in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with additional branches operating in Can Tho.

Halal certification serves as a mandatory "passport" for consumer goods entering Malaysia’s Muslim-majority market. The Halal label guarantees that food and consumer products are produced, processed, and distributed in strict compliance with Islamic principles. JAKIM’s official recognition empowers these approved bodies to authorize Halal labeling on product packaging and display certification signs at manufacturing facilities.

Securing JAKIM Halal certification demands rigorous compliance across the entire supply chain—encompassing everything from raw material selection and processing to storage, packaging, transportation, and final distribution.

This recognition is expected to significantly ease trade barriers for Vietnamese enterprises, streamlining the export of Halal-certified goods and services to Malaysia and unlocking broader opportunities within the lucrative Muslim consumer market.
