Hanmi Pharmaceutical (KRX: 128940) announced on the 23rd that the International Nonproprietary Name (INN) for its next-generation triple-action obesity treatment, 'HM15275,' has been officially confirmed as 'zantrutide.'

The World Health Organization (WHO) establishes and registers INNs to prevent confusion among medical products and to allow researchers, medical professionals, and regulatory agencies to share drug information more easily.

Choi In-young, Head of the Future Growth Division at Hanmi Pharmaceutical, stated, "This holds significant meaning as Hanmi's promising R&D asset has secured a globally recognized name, enhancing its future value and awareness as a global new drug asset."

Zantrutide is a pipeline developed through Hanmi's obesity new drug project, 'H.O.P.'

It is a next-generation triple-action agonist designed to optimize the receptor actions of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP), and glucagon (GCG), delivering efficacy against various metabolic diseases alongside weight loss.

Hanmi Pharmaceutical explained that this substance aims for a weight loss effect of over 25% while minimizing muscle loss.

Phase 2 clinical trials targeting obesity and diabetes are currently underway in the United States. Hanmi Pharmaceutical expects the Phase 2 clinical trial for obesity to conclude in the first half of next year.
