DAEJEON, SOUTH KOREA – The Daejeon Civic Arts Troupe is set to enchant local residents with a unique cultural offering, the ‘Harmonious Cultural Stroll’ performances, scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th, and Thursday, April 17th, at 7:30 PM. The Daejuk Gymnasium at Sintanjin Middle School will serve as the venue for these special evenings, where the rich tapestry of Korean traditional music and the grandeur of classical compositions will converge.

This highly anticipated event will feature the esteemed Daejeon Philharmonic Korean Traditional Music Orchestra and the renowned Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra. In a gesture of cultural outreach, admission to both performances will be free for all members of the public, underscoring the troupe's commitment to making arts accessible to everyone.

The ‘Harmonious Cultural Stroll’ stands as a testament to the Daejeon Civic Arts Troupe's dedication to community engagement. Originating in 2014 under the ‘Cultivating Culture in Our Neighborhood’ banner, this annual initiative celebrates its 12th anniversary this year. It has consistently played a vital role in broadening opportunities for citizens to experience and appreciate local arts and culture, while also contributing to the overall cultural vibrancy of the city. The performances have garnered enthusiastic responses from the Daejeon community year after year.

The first evening, April 15th, will showcase the captivating beauty of Korean traditional music presented by the Daejeon Philharmonic Korean Traditional Music Orchestra, led by the distinguished Artistic Director Lim Sang-gyu. Adding to the allure of the evening, the celebrated Korean traditional singer Park Ae-ri will grace the stage as a special guest. The program promises a diverse and engaging selection, including ‘Gayageum Byeongchang Yeon-gok,’ a mesmerizing solo gayageum performance with continuous singing, a delightful ‘World Folk Song Journey,’ and the evocative ‘Wolhwajeongin.’ The performance will culminate in a powerful rendition of the third movement of the Samulnori concerto ‘Sinmodeum,’ renowned for its dynamic rhythms and explosive energy, promising a deeply moving experience for the audience.

On Thursday, April 17th, the stage will be taken over by the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of the talented conductor Park Geun-tae. The evening will feature a special collaboration with the acclaimed baritone Ahn Gap-sung. The program will commence with the lighthearted and elegant melodies of the ‘Die Fledermaus Overture’ by Johann Strauss II, setting a joyful tone for the concert. Following this, attendees will be treated to a unique fusion of classical and musical theatre, with performances of iconic songs from the globally acclaimed musicals ‘Notre-Dame de Paris’ and ‘Jekyll & Hyde,’ showcasing the versatility and artistry of the orchestra and soloist.

Both performances offer free admission on a first-come, first-served basis, encouraging widespread community participation.
