Apple Unveils iPhone 17e: Starting at ₩990,000 for 256GB Pre-orders begin March 4th across 70 countries including South Korea.

CUPERTINO, California — Apple has officially announced its newest budget-friendly smartphone, the iPhone 17e. Despite rising manufacturing costs across the semiconductor industry, Apple has effectively lowered the entry price for consumers by doubling the base storage capacity while maintaining the previous generation's starting price.

Performance Meets Value
The iPhone 17e is powered by the latest A19 chip, built on a cutting-edge 3-nanometer process. This new processor features a 6-core CPU that is up to 2x faster than the iPhone 11, providing a significant performance leap for users upgrading from older models.

The device also introduces the C1X cellular modem, Apple’s latest custom-designed hardware. The C1X offers speeds up to twice as fast as the C1 modem found in the iPhone 16e and consumes 30% less power than the modems used in the iPhone 16 Pro, leading to noticeably improved battery life.

High-End Camera & Gaming
Apple has focused on bringing "Pro-level" features to this mid-range device:

48MP Fusion Camera: Supports 2x optical-quality telephoto zoom and 4K Dolby Vision video.
Advanced Imaging: Features 24MP default resolution for optimized file sizes without sacrificing detail, along with next-gen HDR for lifelike skin tones.
Console-Grade Gaming: The 4-core GPU includes a neural accelerator and hardware-accelerated ray tracing, enabling the device to run AAA game titles.

Enhanced "Apple Intelligence" with iOS 26
Shipping with iOS 26, the iPhone 17e is deeply integrated with Apple Intelligence. New features include:

Real-time Translation: Seamlessly works across Messages, FaceTime, and Phone calls.
Call Screening & Waiting: AI can now screen unknown callers to ask for their purpose or wait on hold for a customer service representative on the user's behalf.
Visual Intelligence: Users can capture screenshots to instantly search for or ask questions about on-screen content.

Price Strategy: More for Less
In a strategic move to capture the mid-range market, Apple has eliminated the 128GB tier.

"While the starting price remains ₩990,000, the base model now offers 256GB of storage—a capacity that previously commanded a premium. By providing double the storage at the same entry price, Apple has effectively implemented a price cut to counter the 'chipflation' impacting the tech sector."
The iPhone 17e will be available for pre-order starting March 4th in 70 countries, including South Korea, the US, UK, China, and Japan.
