The EU in Peru, along with the Embassy of the Netherlands, recently convened the Water and Sanitation Working Group to promote dialogue and collaboration between public and private sector actors. The goal is to encourage sustainable investment in this critical sector for development.

Alexander Kofman, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, emphasized that the Global Gateway initiative provides an opportunity to open dialogue and leverage a range of experiences that can generate real and lasting impact on water management. "This forum will identify opportunities for public-private collaboration and address the challenge of closing the investment gap in rural and urban drinking water and sanitation," he said.
He also stressed the importance of projects integrating aspects of integrated water management and climate change. "As members of the EU, we are ready to work with Peru on innovative solutions in water and sanitation," he added.
Sustainability
Representatives from the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, ProInversión, and Sedapal presented their investment portfolios for 2025. They highlighted the importance of closing infrastructure gaps and integrating the principles of sustainability and circular economy in projects.
Representatives from the EU in Peru, the French Development Agency, the German Development Bank, and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean presented their projects, which included innovative experiences in integrated water management, good governance of basins, water reuse, and water security.
