On the 28th, Cheonan City held a memorial ceremony at the Martyr Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Shrine to mark the 106th anniversary of the martyrdom of Yu Gwan-sun, who gave her life for national independence at a young age.

Co-hosted by Cheonan City and the Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Association, the memorial ceremony was attended by Cheonan Mayor Jang Ki-soo, bereaved family members, veterans' organizations, and representatives of related organizations. In a solemn atmosphere, the event proceeded with a national salute, the reading of a memorial address, the laying of flowers and burning of incense, and three cheers for independence.

Student Gyeong Ji-woo, the 25th Torch Award recipient from Ewha Girls' High School—Martyr Yu's alma mater—read a commemorative tribute, honoring her noble patriotic and sacrificial spirit.

For citizens unable to attend in person, a wave of mourning continued at the online memorial hall operating since the 15th.

At the online memorial hall, many citizens expressed their condolences and gratitude through tribute messages such as, "We will deeply engrave the martyr's courage and sacrifice in our hearts," and "Thank you, Martyr Yu Gwan-sun, for your dedication to the freedom and independence of the Republic of Korea."

Cheonan Mayor Jang Ki-soo stated, "Many citizens visited the memorial shrine to honor the spirit of Martyr Yu Gwan-sun. As Cheonan is the hometown of the martyr and a holy ground for the independence movement, we will do our utmost to ensure that her noble spirit of love for the country is never forgotten and is properly passed down to future generations."
