Gimhae, South Korea – Gimhae City has announced a significant increase in its social welfare budget for this year, allocating 771.3 billion won to enhance support for vulnerable citizens. This represents a 43 billion won increase from the previous year and accounts for 41% of the city's total budget.

The increased funding will be directed towards a variety of programs, including:

Basic living support: 151.1 billion won
Vulnerable group support: 755 billion won
Childcare: 217.2 billion won
Family and women: 344 billion won
Seniors and youth: 2438 billion won
Labor and veterans: 122 billion won
General social welfare: 371 billion won
Key initiatives include the construction of a comprehensive social welfare center in Jinyeong, expansion of self-sufficiency programs, renovation of aging daycare centers, and the establishment of a Gimhae Childcare Comprehensive Support Center. Additionally, the city will continue to support childbirth and child-rearing by providing childbirth allowances, parenting allowances, and childcare support services.

To empower women, Gimhae will operate two women's new start centers, offering job training, counseling, and entrepreneurship programs. The city will also hold a job fair specifically for women.

For vulnerable groups, Gimhae will expand basic living support and self-sufficiency programs, while also providing support for multicultural families and foreign residents.
