Daejeon, South Korea – The Daejeon Metropolitan City has announced the full implementation of the "Pet Pass" entry system at the Daejeon Pet Park, located in Geumgo-dong, Yuseong-gu, starting from March 2025. This move marks a significant improvement in the park's management and accessibility.

The "Pet Pass" system utilizes QR code technology linked to pets' animal registration numbers, allowing for a streamlined and efficient entry process. Only pets aged 2 months or older, registered with internal or external RFID devices, will be granted access. This system is expected to simplify entry procedures and enhance the park's overall safety and management efficiency.

Prior to the full implementation, the city conducted a three-month pilot operation from December 2024 to February 2025. The results were highly positive, with users reporting faster entry speeds and simplified procedures. User satisfaction surveys also indicated a strong appreciation for the system's convenience, leading the city to officially adopt the "Pet Pass" system.

The Daejeon Pet Park, spanning 32,166㎡ of land with a 2,408㎡ building, offers a variety of facilities, including an indoor cultural center, outdoor playground, and exercise areas. The park's operating hours are from 10:00 to 21:00 during the summer season (April to September) and from 10:00 to 19:00 during the winter season (October to March). The park is closed every Monday.

Park Young-cheol, Director of the Daejeon City Greenery Agricultural Life Bureau, stated, "We expect the 'Pet Pass' introduction to make park use more convenient and provide a safe and pleasant environment for pets and their guardians. We will continue to improve our facilities and operating systems to create an optimal space that satisfies both pets and citizens."
