The Salvadoran government is making significant strides in its efforts to revitalize communities and provide opportunities for its citizens. The Directorate for the Reconstruction of the Social Fabric has announced that the construction of the Urban Center for Well-being and Opportunities (CUBO) in Altavista, Ilopango, is now underway. This marks the sixth CUBO project out of ten planned for this year, which will collectively benefit over 120,000 residents.
"The work of President Nayib Bukele is reflected in the security we enjoy today, allowing projects like this to become a reality within communities that for decades were vulnerable to violence," the institution stated.
The CUBO centers are a joint effort with the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) to deliver high-quality infrastructure to the Salvadoran people. These spaces are designed to foster development and learning for all ages, providing a safe and modern environment for residents to grow and thrive.
The Altavista CUBO will serve the communities of Ilopango, San Martín, and Tonacatepeque. It will feature a range of amenities, including:
A computer center with internet access
A library with books of various genres
A children's play area
A recording studio
Video game consoles
A multipurpose area
A gym
The CUBO initiative is a testament to the Salvadoran government's commitment to investing in its people and building a brighter future for all. By providing access to technology, education, recreation, and cultural activities, the CUBO centers are empowering communities to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
