- South Chungcheong Fire Department to Host the ‘8th National Firefighter Sports Festival’ in Yesan County in 2026… A Place for Communication and Harmony

The South Chungcheong Fire Headquarters announced on the 1st that Yesan County, South Chungcheong Province, has been finalized as the host city for the 8th National Firefighter Sports Festival in 2026.

The 8th National Firefighter Sports Festival will hold a total of 7 events (3 ball games, 4 net games) centered around the Yesan Public Stadium and utilizing facilities such as the Muhancheon Sports Park. During the event, the province plans to showcase special attractions and entertainment unique to South Chungcheong by linking excellent cultural and tourism programs and will also host various side events.

The 8th National Firefighter Sports Festival, hosted by the National Fire Agency and organized by the province, will be a meaningful time for firefighters from across the country to gather in one place to restore their physical and mental health and promote communication and harmony.

To host this National Firefighter Sports Festival, the Fire Headquarters formed a ‘National Firefighter Sports Festival Hosting Promotion Team’ in January and collaborated with related organizations including the province and the county. They also actively engaged in hosting activities, including appointing Jeong Jun-ho, a movie actor from Yesan County, as the ‘Promotional Ambassador for Hosting the National Firefighter Sports Festival.’

In addition, the Fire Headquarters received recognition for accessibility, stadium infrastructure, and regional cooperation plans during the National Fire Agency's on-site inspection of candidate host cities, leading to the final confirmation of Yesan County as the host city. Yesan County was evaluated as having the optimal conditions for hosting the event due to the short distances between stadiums, well-established sports infrastructure, and excellent geographical accessibility thanks to the recently opened Iksan-Pyeongtaek Expressway.

Seong Ho-seon, head of the Fire Headquarters, said, “I am pleased to hold the National Firefighter Sports Festival in Yesan County during ‘Visit South Chungcheong Year’ next year. We will thoroughly prepare to make it a festival where firefighters from all over the country can fully demonstrate their skills and mingle with the citizens.”
