Ulsan, South Korea – The Ulsan Port Authority (UPA) announced on February 9th that it has been selected as an exemplary institution for the second consecutive year in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' 2024 evaluation of public service management among 19 public organizations under its jurisdiction.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' evaluation assesses efforts to establish public discipline over the past year through 12 indicators in six categories, including strengthening audit and inspection activities, eradicating corruption factors, and supporting policy performance creation.

The UPA was recognized for its contribution to spreading a culture of integrity in public society through initiatives such as hosting the 'Ulsan Port Integrity Academy' and its efforts to strengthen audit expertise through professional training.

Meanwhile, the UPA has decided to restrict the use of 'DeepSeek', a Chinese generative AI service.

DeepSeek is similar to ChatGPT, but concerns have been raised that its data collection methods and security systems are weaker than other generative AI, leading to government-wide access restrictions.

Accordingly, the UPA blocked access to DeepSeek on all PCs used by the UPA on February 7th to prevent the leakage of sensitive administrative information such as personal information.

An official from the UPA said, "We will pay more attention to information security by further reviewing the security of generative AI services and disseminating precautions when using generative AI."
