Hyundai Tucson Nears 10 Million Global Sales, First SUV Milestone

Seoul, South Korea – Hyundai's Tucson compact SUV is on track to achieve a significant milestone, nearing 10 million cumulative global sales. This achievement will make the Tucson the first SUV model within the Hyundai Motor Group, and in the Korean automotive industry, to reach this landmark figure.

According to Hyundai's investor relations data, as of January 2025, the Tucson has recorded cumulative sales of 9,639,991 units since its initial launch in March 2004. Considering the vehicle's strong global sales performance in 2024, industry analysts predict that the Tucson will surpass the 10 million sales mark by mid-2025.

The Tucson's global success is largely attributed to its robust overseas sales, which account for over 90% of its total sales volume. In 2024 alone, the Tucson sold 579,037 units overseas, representing 91.3% of its total sales.

Notably, the Tucson has gained immense popularity in the United States, where it has become Hyundai's best-selling model. In 2024, U.S. sales of the Tucson reached 209,624 units, surpassing all other Hyundai models. The Tucson has held the position of Hyundai's top-selling model in the U.S. market since 2020, demonstrating the rising popularity of SUVs both domestically and internationally.

"The Tucson's achievement of 10 million cumulative sales is a historic first for a Korean SUV, and it is even more meaningful considering it was accomplished within a relatively short period of 21 years," said a Hyundai representative.
