Montevideo, Uruguay – For over three decades, Montevideo Shopping has been a steadfast supporter of the local arts scene through its annual "Acercando al Arte" initiative, organized in collaboration with Galería Latina. This year's edition, which runs until December 23rd, features a diverse collection of works by both emerging and established Uruguayan artists.
The initiative, a cornerstone of the shopping center's commitment to fostering national culture, offers a unique platform for artists to showcase and sell their smaller works. Visitors can browse and purchase a variety of art pieces, including paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, and handcrafted accessories, created by renowned artists such as Martín Vila, Martha Escondeur, and Cecilia Mattos.
A standout feature of this year's event is the inclusion of artwork by students from the Catholic University of Uruguay's Visual Arts program. Curated by Leandro Gómez Guerrero, this section provides aspiring artists with a valuable opportunity to gain exposure and share space with more seasoned professionals.
"We are thrilled to continue this tradition and provide a platform for both emerging and established artists to connect with a wider audience," said Carolina de León, Marketing Manager of Montevideo Shopping. "By showcasing their work in a high-traffic location like our shopping center, we hope to inspire and engage our visitors while also supporting the local arts community."
Since its inception, the "Acercando al Arte" initiative has featured over 90 artists and has become a beloved holiday tradition for many. The event not only offers a chance for art enthusiasts to discover new talent but also provides a festive atmosphere for shoppers to find unique gifts.
