Santiago, Chile – Amal, the 3.5-meter-tall puppet representing a Syrian refugee girl, is set to visit Chile in January 2025. Since 2021, Amal has been traveling the world, raising awareness about the plight of child refugees and spreading a message of hope. In Chile, Amal will participate in various events as part of the 2025 Teatro a Mil Festival, touring six different regions.

Who is Amal?

Created through a joint collaboration between the UK and South Africa, Amal is an Arabic word meaning 'hope'. Since 2021, Amal has traveled across Europe, North America, and Oceania, deeply touching the hearts of millions. In 2023 alone, Amal visited Mexico, walking over 500 kilometers and connecting with more than 500,000 people.

Amal's Journey in Chile

Amal will make her first appearance in Chile on January 3, 2025, at Santiago's Central Station. She will then embark on a nationwide tour, connecting with various communities. Amal will visit both northern and southern regions of Chile, interacting with local residents and experiencing the diverse cultures of the country.

The Message Behind Amal

The Amal Project is more than just a puppetry performance; it's a powerful initiative that aims to raise awareness about the plight of child refugees and emphasize the importance of humanity and solidarity. In 2025, which marks the 80th anniversary of Gabriela Mistral's Nobel Prize in Literature, Amal's visit will serve as a tribute to Mistral's humanitarian spirit and foster global solidarity for the well-being of children worldwide.

Events and Participation

During her stay in Chile, Amal will participate in a variety of events, including workshops, performances, and exhibitions. These activities are expected to have a positive impact on Chilean society. On January 25th, Amal will join forces with another giant puppet, "Mo," for a special performance, marking the grand finale of the festival.

Significance of the Amal Project

The Amal Project is a meaningful endeavor that goes beyond cultural events. It serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and solidarity in a world facing numerous challenges. Through Amal, we can empathize with the suffering of child refugees and offer them hope. Additionally, the project promotes intercultural understanding and encourages us to live together in harmony.

The visit of the 3.5-meter-tall puppet Amal to Chile is more than just an event; it's a significant initiative that carries a powerful social message. Through Amal, we can reaffirm the importance of humanity and solidarity, and work together to create a better world.
