To mark the 15th anniversary of their sister city relationship, Daejeon Metropolitan City will visit Sapporo, Japan, for a three-day trip from February 3 to 5 at the official invitation of Sapporo City. By attending official events of the Sapporo Snow Festival, holding business consultation meetings to expand economic exchange, and hosting commemorative events for the 15th anniversary, the city plans to strengthen practical cooperation between the two cities.

On February 3, the first day of the official schedule, the delegation will visit the Former Hokkaido Government Office Building to inspect cases of historical building preservation and urban regeneration. They intend to examine implications that can be linked to Daejeon’s future policies for revitalizing the original downtown area and utilizing public assets.

Afterward, they will meet with Mayor Katsuhiro Akimoto at Sapporo City Hall to discuss expanding the scope of cooperation across various sectors, including festivals, culture, tourism, human exchange, youth, education, and urban policy.

On February 4, the second day, the delegation will attend the opening ceremony of the Sapporo Snow Festival and tour the festival grounds to share international event management practices. They also plan to encourage three sculptors from Daejeon who are participating in the International Snow Sculpture Contest as representatives of Korea. Through this, they aim to promote Daejeon’s cultural and artistic capabilities abroad and lay the foundation for expanding international cultural exchange in the future.

Furthermore, on the afternoon of the same day, the "Daejeon-Sapporo Business Consultation Meeting" will be held to formalize business matching and economic exchange between companies from both cities (approximately 19 from Daejeon and 30 from Sapporo).
