Bucheon City has successfully completed living environment improvements for 19 households in welfare blind spots through the "Bucheon-style Handsup Happy House" project, which has been underway since May to ensure housing stability for vulnerable groups.

The "Bucheon-style Handsup Happy House" is a project designed to discover vulnerable housing groups who struggle to repair their homes due to economic difficulties—such as youth-headed households, elderly people living alone, and individuals with disabilities—and provide customized home repairs, including wallpapering, flooring replacement, and kitchen sink installations.

A variety of organizations and companies contributed to this initiative by providing materials and construction support, including the Gyeonggi Provincial Chapter of the Korea Housing Builders Association, the Bucheon Regional Architectural Association of the Korean Institute of Architects, the Bucheon Honam Township Association General Federation, the Bucheon Jungang Rotary Club, Ilshin Gunyoung Co., Ltd., and Daepung I&D Co., Ltd.

Leveraging the talent donations and private resources of these organizations and groups, the city sequentially carried out necessary construction work for each household starting in May, completing all 19 homes just in time for the Chuseok holiday.

In particular, the city has been steadily expanding the project by utilizing private sector expertise and resources. Following a business agreement for the "Bucheon-style Handsup Happy House" signed in 2023 with the Gyeonggi Provincial Chapter of the Korea Housing Builders Association and the Bucheon Regional Architectural Association, the city expanded its public-private cooperation foundation in 2025 by signing an additional agreement with the Bucheon Honam Township Association General Federation.

Chang Hwan-sik, Director of the Housing Bureau at Bucheon City, stated, "I would like to express my gratitude to the organizations and groups that participated in talent donations so that citizens in welfare blind spots could spend the Chuseok holiday in a comfortable living environment. We will continue to closely cooperate with the private sector to discover citizens in need of housing improvements and provide practical support."
