Jakarta – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has reported a substantial surge in ticket sales for its medium and long-distance train services during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.
As of Saturday, December 7, 2024, a total of 803,626 tickets have been sold for the festive period, representing a significant portion of the 3,572,588 total seats available, according to KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Anne Purba.
Of the total tickets sold, 792,296 were for medium and long-distance trains, accounting for 28.59% of the available seats in this category. Meanwhile, 11,330 tickets were sold for local trains, representing 1.41% of the available seats in this category.
Purba explained that tickets for medium and long-distance trains can be booked 45 days in advance, while local train tickets can be booked 30 days prior to departure. Additionally, some train services require bookings to be made only seven days before departure.
For the period spanning December 19, 2024, to January 5, 2025, KAI Group is offering a total of 44,754,280 seats, encompassing various transportation modes such as KAI commuter trains, LRT Jabodebek, LRT Sumsel, KAI wisata, KAI bandara, and KCIC.
Purba emphasized that the number of tickets sold is expected to continue increasing as the booking period progresses. KAI urges passengers to book their tickets early and plan their holiday travel accordingly, as there are still plenty of seats available for the festive season.
With a total of 40,782 train services scheduled during the holiday period, KAI is well-prepared to accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger demand. The company is confident that it can provide a safe and comfortable journey for all passengers.
