Held at Gumi Saemaul Theme Park, with elementary, middle, and high school students, parents, and library members participating
380 entries and 84 winners, featuring award-winning exhibitions and hands-on experience events

Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that the 26th Saemaul Mobile Library Writing and Drawing Cultural Competition was held on the 24th at the Gumi Saemaul Theme Park under the theme "Drawing Dreams, Enjoying Together, and Opening the Future of Gyeongsangbuk-do."

The competition was hosted by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Chapter of the Saemaul Mobile Library. Approximately 800 provincial residents participated, including elementary, middle, and high school students, parents, and Saemaul Mobile Library members.

The event kicked off in the morning with an opening ceremony, an opening performance, and a talent-donation celebratory performance. In the afternoon, cultural programs that all attendees could enjoy together followed, including a Saemaul Quiz Golden Bell and a magic balloon show.

This year’s competition was operated by receiving entries in advance, evaluating them, and then selecting the winners. A total of 380 entries were submitted across three categories—letter writing, verse, and art—with 84 participants winning awards. Certificates were awarded to 12 Grand Prize winners during the morning awards ceremony, while the remaining winners and six Saemaul Quiz Golden Bell winners were recognized in the afternoon ceremony.

In the event venue lobby, 12 Grand Prize-winning works were exhibited. Hands-on experience events, such as traditional games utilizing recycled materials operated by Saemaul Mobile Library members from 20 cities and counties, were also held, creating a space where visitors could directly participate.

The Saemaul Mobile Library Writing and Drawing Cultural Competition is held annually to promote the joy of reading and expand cultural activities among residents. This year, moving away from a competition-centric format, hands-on and cultural programs were arranged together to strengthen the character of a festival where generations and classes harmonize.

In a congratulatory video message, Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated, "The spirit of the Saemaul Mobile Library—which has fostered the capabilities of every individual citizen—and the power of a resident-led community will become assets that greatly grow our society even in the AI era."

He added, "Gyeongsangbuk-do will open tomorrow for the Republic of Korea through a new Saemaul Movement led by AI, data, and youth. Through the Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration, the construction of the integrated new airport, and the expansion of Yeongilman Port, we will compete with major world cities and hand down the most livable Gyeongsangbuk-do to our children."
