Asunción, Paraguay – Paola Tapia, the director of Santiago's Metropolitan Public Transport and former Chilean Minister of Transport, visited Paraguay to share her expertise with local transportation officials and industry representatives. The meeting, held on Wednesday, November 13th, focused on improving Paraguay's public transportation system.

Tapia provided a detailed overview of Chile's successful public transportation reforms and the business models implemented. She emphasized the positive impact these changes have had on service quality and passenger satisfaction, stating, “Sharing the successes and challenges of Chilean public transportation is incredibly meaningful. It demonstrates how a government's commitment to putting citizens first and addressing complex issues can yield positive results.”

Emiliaño R. Fernández, Paraguay's Vice Minister of Transportation, highlighted the significance of this exchange for the country's public transportation development. He expressed, “It was very beneficial to meet with a leading Chilean expert and learn from their experiences, especially regarding strategies to attract passengers back to public transport. This will be invaluable as we continue to reform our transportation system.”

The meeting provided a fresh perspective for Paraguay's transportation technical team and organizations such as FETRAM, UCETRAM, and CETRAPAM, fostering discussions on various approaches to improving the public transportation system. Fernández further emphasized, "Our goal is always to provide better services to our citizens. Through this exchange, we will continue our efforts to build a more efficient and accessible public transportation system."

This visit marks a significant step towards enhancing Paraguay's public transportation infrastructure and service quality, drawing inspiration from Chile's successful reforms.
