BUSAN - Local governments in Busan are proactively adjusting their autumn festival schedules to avoid clashing with the 106th National Sports Festival and the extended Chuseok holiday season in October.
The National Sports Festival is set to take place in Busan from October 17th to 23rd, while the Chuseok holiday, combined with National Foundation Day and Hangul Day, will create a potential seven-day vacation period in early October.
This overlap has prompted Busan's festival organizers to make significant changes to their event dates to prevent logistical issues related to transportation, accommodation, and crowd management.
"It's crucial for us to adjust our schedules to ensure smooth operations and avoid overwhelming our city's resources," said a Busan city official.
Among the major adjustments, the Busan International Film Festival, celebrating its 30th anniversary, will move its dates to September 17th to 26th, breaking from its traditional October slot. The Busan International Rock Festival will also shift to September 26th to 28th.
Other festivals, such as the Yeongdo Bridge Festival and the Nakdonggang Gupo Naroo Festival, are also moving their dates to September or November.
"We understand the importance of these festivals to our community and tourists, and we are committed to ensuring they can be enjoyed without any inconvenience," the city official added.
The city anticipates further schedule changes for other local events as organizers work to accommodate the busy October calendar.
