Seattle, WA – A dramatic boat fire erupted in Elliott Bay near West Seattle on Sunday afternoon, prompting a significant emergency response. Fire crews, the Coast Guard, and even a Washington State ferry were called to the scene.

The fire broke out around 12:16 p.m. near the 1600 block of Harbor Ave Southwest. Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke billowing from the burning vessel. Firefighters arrived on the scene and managed to extinguish most of the flames. However, due to the severity of the fire, they were unable to fully put it out. The damaged boat was then towed to Four Mile Rock for further assessment.

One person was rescued from the burning boat by a Good Samaritan and was reported to be unharmed. It remains unclear how many people were aboard the vessel at the time of the fire.

The incident also disrupted ferry service. A ferry sailing from Bainbridge Island to Seattle temporarily halted its journey to assist in firefighting efforts.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Local authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
