'1st Sejong Sports Festival' Held Through Public-Private Collaboration, Attracting 7,000 Citizens

The City of Sejong (Mayor Cho Sang-ho) announced that the "2026 Sejong Sports Festival," co-hosted on the 24th at the Urban Festival Plaza in Sejong Central Park alongside Naver Cloud, the Sejong City Sports Council, and the Sejong City Athletics Federation, successfully concluded.

Designed to promote sports in the daily lives of citizens, this inaugural event was the result of a working-level agreement signed on August 4 between the City of Sejong, Naver Cloud, the Sejong City Sports Council, and the Sejong City Athletics Federation to collaborate on hosting the festival.

The event was divided into two parts: Part 1, the "Sejong Run 26" marathon with Naver Works, and Part 2, the "Autumn On! Citizen Sports Stage."

Part 1 featured a marathon co-organized by Naver Cloud and the Sejong City Athletics Federation to promote the value of Naver Works and support digital transformation (AX) in the public sector. Around 5,000 participants took part in the 5km and 10km events.

Part 2, hosted and organized by the Sejong City Sports Council, featured 23 promotional and experiential booths operated by local sports facility businesses and athletic associations, drawing about 2,000 citizens and out-of-town visitors.

Additionally, the festival featured a wide variety of activities for citizens to experience and enjoy firsthand, including a "Physical King Selection Contest," live demonstrations of everyday sports such as judo, cheerleading, and Kuksae Qigong (Kuksunwon), and interactive citizen participation classes like barre pilates, yoga, and shuffle dance.

Nam Gung-ho, Director-General of Culture, Sports and Tourism, remarked, "This festival served as a great example of public-private cooperation where citizens could enjoy sports in their daily lives, alongside companies and athletic organizations. We will continue to build a sports environment where citizens can enjoy a healthy lifestyle."
