KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – June 5, 2025 – Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO) has been awarded a prestigious gold medal at the '2025 Malaysia International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2025),' held from May 29 to 31 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The winning entry, an "AI-Based Mobile Heat Exchanger System," garnered significant attention among approximately 900 diverse patents showcased by participants from 15 countries.

KOSPO's innovative system, developed in collaboration with a domestic small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), represents a significant leap forward in industrial cooling and purification technology. This mobile unit is designed to concurrently cool and purify oil, offering a flexible and efficient solution for various industrial applications.

One of the key advantages of KOSPO's AI-based mobile heat exchanger is its ability to perform real-time, adaptive operations and monitoring based on actual operating environments. This intelligence allows the system to optimize its performance, ensuring consistent and reliable cooling and purification.

The system addresses a critical challenge posed by rising global sea temperatures due to climate change. Traditional cooling systems often face capacity limitations or operational difficulties in such conditions. KOSPO's mobile heat exchanger provides a seamless solution, enabling facilities to maintain optimal oil purification and cooling performance without requiring costly modifications to existing infrastructure. This "plug-and-play" capability makes it an incredibly versatile and cost-effective upgrade for power plants and other industrial sites.

KOSPO has already implemented this system at its Hadong Bitdream Headquarters, where it is actively being utilized for oil cooling and purification. The company plans to continuously advance the technology, with a view to expand its application to other coal and combined cycle power plants, both domestically and internationally. This widespread adoption could significantly enhance operational efficiency and environmental performance across the energy sector.

"Winning this international award validates the excellence of our R&D invention, particularly our collaboration with a small and medium-sized enterprise," said Kim Jun-dong, CEO of KOSPO. "Moving forward, KOSPO will continue to lead the way in opening up new markets in the domestic and international power industries. This will be achieved through sustained joint research and development efforts with SMEs, providing essential business support and actively promoting our technological capabilities."

This recognition at ITEX 2025 not only highlights KOSPO's commitment to technological innovation but also underscores the successful synergy between large corporations and smaller businesses in fostering groundbreaking solutions. The "AI-Based Mobile Heat Exchanger System" is poised to play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of industrial operations worldwide.
