Guazú, Paraguay - A tragic accident in Guazú, Paraguay, has claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl after a vehicle carrying her and her family overturned. The driver, the girl's father, was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

The accident occurred around 3:50 p.m. on November 18th at the intersection of San Isidro and August 8th streets in the Rus Bela Colony of the Guazú district. A Nissan Frontier carrying 40-year-old driver Isaac Peters Hildebrandt, his partner Helena Günter Woll, and their five children aged 14, 11, 8, 5, and 2 overturned. The family was reportedly traveling from Nueva Durango Colony in Canindeyú.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver attempted to brake abruptly while crossing a concrete bridge under construction. The vehicle skidded and overturned as a result. While two younger children were seriously injured and immediately transported to the Tabea Hospital in Itacurubí del Rosario, the 11-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries, which included a skull fracture.

A subsequent breathalyzer test revealed that the driver, Isaac Peters Hildebrandt, had a blood alcohol content of 0.242 mg/L, confirming that he was driving under the influence.

The accident site was an ongoing construction zone, with a narrow concrete bridge as the likely cause of the vehicle's instability.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drunk driving. Driving under the influence is a serious crime that endangers not only the driver but also innocent bystanders. This accident underscores the urgent need for stricter measures against drunk driving.
