Dar es Salaam, Tanzania - The Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC), in collaboration with the Tanzania Navy Command, has intensified maritime security patrols to combat illegal activities within the port's outer anchorage.

Speaking during a recent exercise, TASAC Captain Ghadafi Chambo highlighted the growing concern over unauthorized business dealings between small vessels and ships anchored offshore. These activities, he emphasized, pose a significant threat to maritime security and the marine environment.

To address this issue, TASAC has partnered with the Navy to conduct regular patrols, utilizing the state-of-the-art patrol boat SailFish, a gift from the Japanese government through the UNDP.

SailFish, with its advanced capabilities, plays a crucial role in safeguarding the Single Point Mooring (SPM), protecting small islands, and preventing illegal discharges of oil and other pollutants.

Captain Chambo issued a stern warning to those engaging in illegal activities, emphasizing that strict legal action would be taken against offenders.

This joint effort between TASAC and the Navy demonstrates the Tanzanian government's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its maritime operations and protecting the country's valuable marine resources.
