Gyeongbuk Province Unveils AI-Curated Travel Destinations for Pet Owners

The Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture and Tourism Organization (President Kim Nam-il) has officially released a curated selection of pet-friendly travel destinations across Gyeongsangbuk-do. Driven by a sharp surge in pet-accompanying tourism demand, this initiative leverages social big data and generative AI (Gemini) to analyze real-time visitor preferences.

Recent social channel data from platforms like Instagram and blog posts revealed that mentions of "pet-accompanying travel" reached 8,725 cases, showing steady growth in both day-trip (up 6.7%) and overnight (up 14.0%) itineraries. Key associated keywords included "quiet" (890 cases), "sea" (506 cases), and "swimming pool" (502 cases), highlighting a modern trend where pet owners seek independent, relaxing getaways away from crowded spaces.

From Nature Healing to Night Run Trips: Top Spots in Gyeongbuk

Top-ranking attractions featured open-air spaces blending pristine nature with traditional culture. Uljin Gusan Pet Beach and Yeongyang Geommasan Natural Recreation Forest emerged as premier nature-healing spots, while Andong Hahoe Folk Village, Wolyeonggyo Bridge, and Gyeongju Hwangridan-gil were selected as sentimental walking trails favored by pet owners.

For active play and structured stay options, Uiseong Pet World—boasting spacious off-leash playgrounds—and Chilgok Dongnak Park drew high attention. These were followed by independent lodging facilities allowing visitors to rest without disturbance.

To help travelers maximize these spots, the organization proposed tailored regional courses:

Gyeongju Course: Combining traditional Hanok architecture with lush forests.
Pohang-Yeongdeok Course: Cruising along the scenic East Coast coastal roads.
Inland Course: Connecting dedicated pet playgrounds with glamping sites.
Autumn Events and Future Outlook

Special autumn programs are also lined up for pet lovers. On October 4, the "Sono Runtrip 180K in Gyeongju" will take place around Bomun Lake, inviting participants to run a 7km night course with their dogs. Complete with exclusive pet kits, registration is available through the Sono Calm Gyeongju Official Website.

Organization President Kim Nam-il noted, "Through data analysis, we have uncovered customized travel destinations that match the actual preferences of pet owners. We hope everyone creates unforgettable memories with their beloved animal family members in Gyeongbuk." Detailed information is available under the notice section on the Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture and Tourism Organization Official Website.
