Leading tasks in citizen services, administrative innovation, and industrial promotion to be included in the main budget by 2027

Daejeon City held the 2nd meeting of the “Daejeon City AI Innovation Strategy Committee,” the highest command center for artificial intelligence (AI) policies, on the 21st to discuss AI innovation tasks discovered through cooperation among all departments and related organizations, as well as the policy direction for the 9th popular election.

This 2nd meeting was arranged to review and supplement the AI innovation tasks independently discovered over the past month since the committee's launch on September 10 by all headquarters departments, business offices, public corporations, public enterprises, and affiliated institutions, thereby enhancing project effectiveness and citizen satisfaction.

During the meeting, a total of 87 tasks across 3 fields were submitted and discussed: ▲ Citizen Services (31 cases, including the establishment of the Ontong Daejeon 2.0 AI Citizen Living Platform, etc.) ▲ Administrative Innovation (31 cases, including the introduction of the Intelligent Work Management Platform (On-AI), etc.) ▲ Industrial Promotion (25 cases, including the creation of a Defense Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) Comprehensive Support Center, etc.).

Among these, the committee will select leading tasks that citizens can easily experience in their daily lives, and Daejeon City plans to organize the related project budgets into the 2027 main budget to accelerate project execution.

Going forward, Daejeon City plans to reduce the city budget burden by linking with government contest projects, while developing specialized tasks that leverage Daejeon's strengths. In addition, the participants agreed to continuously discover citizen-centric pending tasks in transportation, safety, welfare, and environment, and to increase policy acceptability through the realization of a "one-stop comprehensive service" that removes barriers between departments and the introduction of citizen-friendly names.

Along with this, Daejeon City reported on its plan to bid for the "Global AI Hub," which the government plans to contest for site selection. To respond to 19 detailed indicators across 4 categories, Daejeon City operates an expert advisory group and research associations, and plans to build an industry-academia-research cooperative network to ensure thorough preparation for the contest.

"We will turn our AI research capabilities into a force that changes the lives of our citizens and our industries," said Daejeon Mayor Huh Tae-jung. "I will make sure that today's discussions lead to concrete execution."
