A Vietnamese tourist has sparked controversy in her home country after posting a video of herself performing yoga in leggings at Seoul's Gyeongbokgung Palace, one of South Korea's most iconic historical sites.
According to the Vietnamese news outlet VN Express, a Hanoi resident identified only as H shared the video on social media platforms like TikTok on November 3rd. The video shows her performing advanced yoga poses in front of the palace's stone wall while wearing leggings.
The post has since been met with a wave of criticism from Vietnamese netizens who have condemned her actions as disrespectful. Many argued that the palace, similar to Hue Imperial City in Vietnam, is considered a sacred place and that her behavior was inappropriate.
One user commented, "Just like Hue Imperial City, this palace is a sacred place in their country. Her actions are shameful."
The incident has ignited a broader discussion about cultural sensitivity and appropriate behavior when visiting foreign countries. While yoga is a popular form of exercise worldwide, many have pointed out that it is important to be mindful of local customs and traditions, especially when visiting historical or religious sites.
