Singapore - Acclaimed Singaporean filmmaker, director, and showrunner Eric Khoo has announced his latest project, an anthology film titled 'Kopitiam Days,' in collaboration with six local directors. Joining Khoo on this venture are a diverse group of talents, each set to helm their own distinct short film: Yeo Siew Hua, director of the Locarno Film Festival Golden Leopard winner 'A Land Imagined'; Sho Shiu Hui; M. Raihan Halim; Tan Shiuyou; Don Aravind; and Ong Kuo Sin.

Eric Khoo explained that the six segments of 'Kopitiam Days' will explore "what it means to live, work and love on this island we call home" in a year that marks Singapore's 60th year of independence.

For this anthology film, Eric Khoo will serve as executive producer and creative director through his production house, Zhao Wei Films. Joining him as executive producers are Fran Borgia, founder of Singapore-based Akanga Film Asia, and Lim Teck, managing director of Singaporean distribution company Clover Films, adding their expertise to the project. Tan Fong Cheng, a producer at Zhao Wei Films, will also be involved in the production.

'Kopitiam' refers to a traditional coffee shop commonly found in Malaysia and Singapore. More than just an eatery, the kopitiam serves as a vital social hub and a cornerstone of community life. Against this backdrop, 'Kopitiam Days' is anticipated to offer a profound glimpse into the multifaceted tapestry of Singaporean life and its human stories. The unique perspectives of the participating directors, combined with Eric Khoo's seasoned guidance, are expected to create a film that injects fresh dynamism into the Singaporean cinematic landscape.
