SEOUL — In an appearance on the YouTube show "My One and Only Knee-Cap Doctor," which aired on Hana Bank's official YouTube channel "Hana TV," K-pop icon G-Dragon shared his candid thoughts on his unique fashion sense and the labels placed upon him.
When host Kang Ho-dong praised him as an "eternal icon of the times" and "fashion icon," G-Dragon playfully warned, "Don't try to copy me," drawing laughter. He went on to admit, "Honestly, it’s true. Even when I look at myself, it's a bit much. It's not ordinary."
G-Dragon revealed that his elaborate styling, including his distinctive nail art, isn't something he throws together on a whim. "Doesn't this look a bit excessive? It's always over the top," he said. "I sometimes spend days deliberating over these choices. I'll put on and take off nail art tips, and I just enjoy that process. The truth is, I do it because I love it. If it’s not perfect in my eyes, I can't move on to the next step."
The conversation also turned to his reputation as a "genius" producer. Kang Ho-dong suggested the title might be a burden, prompting G-Dragon to offer a humble response. "I don’t think I'm a true genius. I think the public just sees that quality in me," he said.
Kang Ho-dong then pressed him with a direct question: "Did you like or dislike the 'genius' label?"
G-Dragon hesitated before replying with a laugh, "I guess I should say I liked it. I'll just be a genius. It always takes too long to explain. It's better to be called a genius than a fool all the time."
