The Seoul National University College of Engineering (hereinafter "SNU College of Engineering") announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Faculty of Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (hereinafter "NTNU") on June 23rd for the development of advanced technology and collaborative research in the field of floating infrastructure.
The signing ceremony, held at the NTNU campus in Trondheim, Norway, was attended by key officials, including Dean Olav Bolland and Professor Ole Andre Øiseth from the NTNU Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Kim Ho-kyung from SNU's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, solidifying the commitment of both institutions to cooperation.
Furthermore, the 1st Korea-Norway Joint Workshop (GFIRH-FLORA-SNU-NTNU Joint Workshop on Floating Structures) was held concurrently on June 20th and 23rd, where over 40 experts from both countries engaged in lively discussions and exchanges on floating infrastructure technology.
This MOU was signed after SNU's Construction and Environmental Research Institute was selected for the "International Cooperation Platform Establishment Support Project" overseen by the SNU Research Affairs in 2024, leading to the establishment of the Global Floating Infrastructure Research Hub (GFIRH).
