Seoul, South Korea – The One-Stop Export and Order Support Task Force has stepped in to alleviate the challenges faced by South Korea's defense industry. In a recent meeting held with representatives from various government agencies and defense companies, the task force addressed pressing issues related to exports and orders.

The gathering, held at the Export-Import Bank of Korea, aimed to proactively identify and address the concerns of defense companies amid a rapidly changing global landscape. Factors such as U.S. President Trump's increased defense budget, NATO's demand for higher defense spending, and the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have significantly impacted the South Korean defense industry.

During the meeting, defense companies raised a wide range of issues, including financial support, logistics and customs clearance, and the transportation of military equipment. In response, government officials outlined existing export support programs such as financing for new markets, creditworthiness assessments of foreign companies, logistics training, and streamlined export permit verification systems.

The task force pledged to continue working with relevant agencies to expedite solutions to other challenges, including preferential guarantees for defense companies, increased deployment of customs officials at overseas missions, and regular shipments of strategic materials.

Kim Dong-jun, deputy director of the task force, emphasized the importance of supporting the defense industry, stating, "Despite the uncertainties and rapid changes in the global political landscape, K-defense exports have been performing well. The task force is committed to continuously working to resolve the challenges faced by domestic defense companies and strengthen their overseas capabilities, with the goal of becoming one of the top four defense exporters in the world by 2027."
