Oudomxay, Laos - On December 20th, Oudomxay Province signed a concession agreement with Ammata Lao Lanexang Co., Ltd., a private company, granting them the right to utilize 697 hectares of land for bamboo-related projects.

The agreement outlines two key operational areas for the company:

Natural Bamboo Cutting: The company is authorized to harvest bamboo on 150 hectares of government-owned land.
Community-Based Bamboo Farming: The company will support local residents across seven districts (Xay, La, Namor, Nga, Beng, Houn, and Pak Beng) by encouraging bamboo cultivation, harvesting, and sales. The company is also obligated to establish a workshop for processing bamboo into daily-use products.
Sustainable Practices:

Ammata Lao Lanexang is restricted to operating within designated production forest zones and must adhere to strict guidelines. An annual harvesting plan, based on thorough surveys, must be submitted to the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry and subsequently approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Economic and Social Benefits:

This agreement aims to foster sustainable investment in the bamboo sector, empower local communities through bamboo cultivation and trade, and establish value-added industries. The processed bamboo products, including paper, charcoal, baskets, souvenirs, and utensils, are expected to generate economic benefits for both the local community and the company while promoting sustainable growth in Oudomxay Province.
