(C) Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST)

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi Hwi-young, hereinafter MCST), in collaboration with the Korea Paralympic Committee (President Jung Jin-wan), will hold the "Inauguration Ceremony for the Republic of Korea National Team for the 2026 Milano-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Paralympics" on February 2 at 2:00 PM at the Olympia Hall in Olympic Parktel. Minister Choi Hwi-young will visit the ceremony to encourage the athletes who have been dedicated to training for the Paralympic stage.

Approximately 150 attendees, including Jung Jin-wan, President of the Korea Paralympic Committee, Yang Oh-yeol, Head of the Delegation, executives and staff from the Korea Paralympic Committee and provincial/city sports councils, and officials from sports federations, will participate in the ceremony. The event will feature a video showcasing the athletes' training process, introductions of the national team, an opening address, an official mission statement, the presentation of the national team flag, and congratulatory performances. In particular, Minister Choi Hwi-young will deliver a message of encouragement and wish for the safe return of the athletes.

The "2026 Milano-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Paralympics" will be held across various locations in Italy from March 6 to 15. The South Korean delegation consists of approximately 50 members (around 16 athletes and 30 officials) participating in five sporting disciplines.

In preparation for this competition, MCST and the Korea Paralympic Committee will deploy advanced scientific equipment to the field, including high-pressure oxygen recovery devices, low-frequency muscle stimulators, and compression cooling therapy units. Alongside technical support, professional personnel such as sports science researchers and equipment managers will be stationed on-site to assist athletes in adapting quickly to environmental changes.

Thorough preparations have also been made for the safety and health management of the delegation. Medical clinics will be operated within the Cortina and Predazzo Olympic Villages, with medical staff maintaining a 24-hour emergency response system. Medical crisis response manuals—covering issues frequent in winter sports such as frostbite and cardiovascular conditions—will be distributed to the entire team. Furthermore, response systems for doping and classification disputes will also be established.
