SEJONG CITY – South Chungcheong Province successfully held the 10th annual 'Hometown Outing Festival' from May 16th to 18th at Sejong Lake Park, drawing significant attention to the region's unique rural culture and attractions. The festival, a key event for rural-urban exchange, provided city dwellers with a vibrant experience of South Chungcheong's countryside traditions and charm.

This year's festival was particularly meaningful, marking a decade of continuous celebration. It featured an array of enriched content and diverse programs designed to offer visitors a special blend of traditional and modern experiences. Sixty out of the province's 130 rural experience and recreation villages participated, showcasing rural experience programs, traditional culture, and distinctive local delicacies.

Visitors enjoyed hands-on traditional games, craft activities, local food experiences, and the opportunity to purchase agricultural specialties directly from the villagers. The event served as a lively platform to promote the allure of South Chungcheong's rural life to urban residents.

In line with the '2025-2026 Visit South Chungcheong Year,' the festival also functioned as a pre-promotional event, aiming to introduce the province's rural tourism resources and attract visitors. South Chungcheong Province is actively working to enhance the recognition and accessibility of its rural tourism, effectively communicating the appeal of its various cities and counties to citizens in the Chungcheong region and visitors nationwide.

The province is investing 348.8 billion KRW to develop 41 tourism resources by 2026 to attract 40 million tourists in 2025. This includes developing attractions such as Baekje Cultural Heritage sites in Gongju and Buyeo, natural landscapes like Cheonsuman Bay, and cultural experiences related to ginseng and local cuisine.

South Chungcheong Province aims to establish itself as a leading cultural and leisure destination.
