The 1st International Gathering of Women Protagonists in Agriculture (Primer Encuentro Internacional de Mujeres Protagonistas del Agro) will be held on November 6th and 7th at the Sheraton Hotel in Asunción, Paraguay. Officially announced at Expo Paraguay 2025, this event is expected to become a crucial platform for bringing together the capabilities of women agricultural leaders not only in Paraguay but also across Latin America and globally.

The event is organized by a multidisciplinary committee of women professionals with extensive experience in the agricultural sector. The organizing committee includes Jaqueline Mesomo, General Manager, a business coach and leadership mentor; Isabel Streski, Commercial Manager, who holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and is pursuing a master's in agribusiness management; and Julia Streski, Content Manager, an expert in education. Additionally, Delia Núñez, an agricultural economist who founded and served as the first president of the Rural Youth Association of Paraguay (Asociación Rural de Jóvenes del Paraguay), is the Strategic Alliances Manager, adding professional expertise and influence to the event.

The organizing committee aims to visualize, connect, and empower women who are driving change at all stages of the agricultural production chain through this event. Senda Agrobusiness, a platform promoting sustainable agricultural development through a women's perspective and a human-centered approach, is spearheading this initiative. Jaqueline Mesomo, the General Manager, emphasized at the press conference, "Our hope is to develop this gathering into an annual regional event that fosters strategic alliances, improves access to opportunities, and ensures the visibility of women protagonists in agriculture."

The main agenda items for the event are as follows:

Women's Leadership and Transformative Roles in Agriculture: Highlighting women leaders' contributions to agricultural development and exploring ways to strengthen their leadership capabilities.
Optimizing Productivity: Discussing new strategies and technologies for efficient growth and exploring sustainable agricultural production models.
Collaboration Models: Sharing successful collaboration cases and partnership building strategies to create synergistic effects through mutual cooperation.
Value Added and Innovation: Seeking ways to increase profitability through diversification of agricultural products and innovative processing.
Financial Management: Presenting strategies to improve access to financial resources and ensure economic sustainability.
In addition, sessions will be held to share inspiring stories from women who have already made significant strides in the agricultural sector, aiming to motivate future generations of women farmers and encourage new challenges.

The event is strongly supported by key public and private institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), the Ministry of Environment (Mades), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), the Development Finance Agency (AFD), the Credit and Loans Agency (CAH), the National Tourism Secretariat (Senastur), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Rural Association of Paraguay (ARP), the Producers Association of Paraguay (APS), the Industrial Union of Paraguay (UIP), and CAFyF's 'Sembrando' program. Corporate sponsorships from companies like ueno bank and a significant agreement with the National Forestry Institute of Paraguay (Infona) are also laying the groundwork for the event's success.

This event is expected to be a significant opportunity to re-examine the role and contributions of women in Paraguay's agricultural sector and affirm their crucial role in leading future agriculture. All eyes are on this gathering, which will contribute to the sustainable growth and development of Paraguayan agriculture through women's empowerment and networking.
