The LA Korean Education Center (Director Kang Jeon-hoon) and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) successfully held a training session titled 'Practical Korean Culture Classes for Immediate Use' on August 8th and 9th at the LA Korean Education Center. The event was attended by around 100 Korean language teachers from American elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as Korean language school teachers.

The LA Korean Education Center (hereafter referred to as the Education Center) and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education have been active partners in the international exchange program for Korean language education by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea since 2024. They have been conducting mutual visits between students and educators from both Korea and the U.S. and jointly operating educational programs.

For this training, three excellent teachers selected by the Gyeongbuk Office of Education visited the U.S. in person. They shared practical Korean culture teaching methods and content creation techniques with local Korean language teachers through hands-on practice, presenting a new model for international educational exchange.

Moving away from simple lectures, this training included various topics such as activity-based teaching methods for immediate use in the classroom, cultural context, differences between languages, and ways to encourage student participation. It provided practical help in enhancing the cultural education capabilities of local teachers.

In particular, the training's structure, which accurately reflected the reality of Korean language education in the U.S. where teachers have to prepare classes with limited time and resources due to a lack of teaching materials, earned deep empathy from the participants.
