GS Retail announced on the 22nd that its convenience store GS25 is causing a K-convenience store sensation in Hanoi, Vietnam, with the average daily sales of the Vietnam GS25 stores opened in Hanoi exceeding KRW 5 million (based on Korean currency).
Vietnam GS25 simultaneously opened six stores in Hanoi on March 14th. This marks its full-fledged entry into the northern Vietnamese market, using Hanoi as a bridgehead after becoming the No. 1 convenience store brand in the southern region of Vietnam, centered around Ho Chi Minh City.
The six stores are recording an average daily sales of KRW 5 million. At the initial stage of opening, they even achieved peak daily sales of over KRW 10 million. This sales volume is 2.5 times higher than the average daily sales of Korean convenience stores. This is a remarkable success in the history of Vietnam GS25 stores.
An average of 1,000 customers visit the six stores daily, accumulating to a total of 300,000 visitors. GS25 private brand (PB) products and Korean brand products swept the top 1 to 3 positions in most sales categories. In particular, the local response to K-foods such as tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) has been explosive.
