On April 25th at 11:00 AM, Kim Han-il, President of the Korean Association of San Francisco & Bay Area, warmly welcomed Ko Tak-hee, President of the Federation of Korean Associations in China and Co-Chair of the World Korean Convention, during his visit to the San Francisco Korean Association building.
The Federation of Korean Associations in China, led by President Ko Tak-hee, is a large-scale overseas Korean organization comprised of 6 federations and 62 local Korean associations, actively working to promote the rights and interests of approximately 800,000 ethnic Koreans in China.
This visit was part of preliminary discussions to strengthen solidarity and cooperation between the Korean communities in both countries, ahead of the 80th Anniversary of Liberation Day commemoration ceremony to be held on August 16, 2025, at the Rotunda Hall of San Francisco City Hall.
President Kim Han-il introduced the memorial statues of independence activists installed in the Korean Association building, emphasizing the importance of passing on the noble patriotic spirit of ancestors such as Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, Reverend Lee Dae-wi, Martyr Jang In-hwan, and Martyr Jeon Myeong-woon, who were active in this region, to future generations.
Director Kim Soon-ran introduced ongoing contribution activities for the local community, stating, "We are steadily expanding programs to preserve and promote Korean language and culture, such as sponsoring Korean language education at Lowell High School, resuming cultural classes, and operating a senior citizens' singing class."
