▲ Meeting with UN agencies related to humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan |
[Global Economic Times] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting (both face-to-face and virtually) on humanitarian aid to Afghanistan on October 16, chaired by Lee Kyung-cheol, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (government representative), to review the status of our government's humanitarian aid project to Afghanistan through international organizations. We inspected and shared our evaluation of the current situation in Afghanistan. Representatives from the Afghanistan and Korea offices of major international organizations attended this meeting.
Each organization that attended the meeting explained the humanitarian situation and prospects in Afghanistan, and the projects implemented with our support include responding to the food crisis and natural disasters in Afghanistan, supporting vulnerable groups such as women and children, and providing relief to refugees and internally displaced people. He expressed deep gratitude for Korea's support, evaluating that it is contributing substantially to improving the humanitarian situation.
Our government will join the international community's efforts to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and continue its efforts to transparently and effectively implement international organizations' projects through our contributions.
