Daejeon, South Korea – The Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) is thrilled to announce "DPO Close-Up 1," an intimate concert spotlighting the deep resonance of the cello with a performance by principal cellist Jae Sung Lim. This special event will take place on March 28th at 7:30 PM at the Daejeon Yeonjeong Traditional Music Center Small Hall.

The "DPO Close-Up" series offers a unique opportunity for audiences to experience the individual brilliance of DPO members. In this inaugural concert of the year, Jae Sung Lim will lead a "Talk & Salon Concert," blending engaging discussions with captivating cello performances under the theme "Performer Jae Sung Lim and the Cello Story."

Jae Sung Lim, recognized as a musical prodigy during his high school years at the Korea National University of Arts, further refined his talents at the Lübeck University of Music in Germany, where he earned a master's degree and a highest performer course. He currently performs on a prestigious Pierre Sylvestre cello crafted in 1835.

The concert program is meticulously curated to showcase the cello's rich and profound tonal qualities. It will commence with Casado's "Suite for Cello Solo," a piece that highlights the Spanish composer's mastery in revealing the cello's allure in a solo setting.

Following this, audiences will enjoy a cello ensemble performance featuring Jae Sung Lim and fellow DPO cellists, presenting Fittzenhagen's "Ave Maria" and Gershwin's "Fragment." The evening will culminate with Richard Strauss's "Sonata for Cello and Piano," a three-movement work that beautifully demonstrates the interplay between the cello and piano, performed by Jae Sung Lim and pianist Lee Yoo-hyun.

Tickets for "DPO Close-Up 1" are priced at 10,000 won for all seats and can be reserved through the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra website, Daejeon Arts Center website, and Interpark until 5 PM on the day before the concert.
