Asunción, Paraguay – Last Saturday, the 'Fiesta de la Francofonía' was successfully held at the Alianza Francesa de Asunción in Asunción, Paraguay. The festival, which ran from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM, showcased the richness of Francophone culture with the participation of international delegations and various cultural programs.
The festival featured a variety of programs including film screenings, activities for children, a virtual reality (VR) experience space, concerts, and DJ performances. Additionally, a cultural fair offering food from various countries such as Switzerland, Morocco, Canada, Belgium, Lebanon, and France was held, delighting the eyes, ears, and taste buds of visitors. All activities were provided free of charge, allowing many citizens to enjoy the festival without any burden.
This festival was held as part of the 'French Language and Francophonie Week' hosted by the French Embassy in Paraguay and the Alianza Francesa de Asunción. The festival aimed to emphasize the richness of the French language and the cultural diversity of Francophone countries around the world.
The event was held with the support of the Institut Français and in collaboration with the embassies of Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Lebanon, Morocco, and Switzerland.
Francophonie encompasses more than 321 million people who use French as a common language, distributed across five continents. Since 1970, the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) has been promoting the use of French and enhancing cooperation in political, educational, economic, and cultural fields in 93 countries and governments. The OIF's main mission is to strengthen cultural and linguistic diversity.
